Die Idee hinter der Seagate GoFlex Satellite ist eigentlich sehr gut. Man erhält Zugriff auf einen externen Speicher, ohne diesen an das jeweilige Gerät anschließen zu müssen. Dabei hat Seagate beispielsweise auch Apples iPad im Blick, das ja keinen USB-Anschluss bietet. Aber natürlich können auch andere Geräte auf die Festplatte zugreifen. Zudem ist auch via USB-3.0 eine direkte Anbindung an den Rechner möglich.
Die Festplatte, die in dieser Form ähnlich wie ein Netzwerkspeicher funktioniert, bietet 500 GB Speicherplatz. Die Akkulaufzeit im Betrieb gibt der Hersteller mit 5 Stunden an, was meiner Meinung nach nicht besonders viel ist. Im Standby-Betrieb liegt die Akkuleistung bei 25 Stunden. Der Zugriff auf die Festplatte und die darauf gespeicherten Medien, erfolgt entweder per Browser oder mit einer kostenlosen App.
Die Amazon-Kundenbewertungen für die Seagate GoFlex Satellite sind recht durchwachsen. So gibt es zwar 11 mal 5 Sterne, aber eben auch 7 Bewertungen mit nur einem Stern. Insgesamt kommt die Festplatte auf 3,5 von 5 Sternen. Lob gibt es für die Grundidee, den Zugriff via iOS- oder Android-App sowie die Arbeitsgeschwindigkeit.
